"On AIM, Meridian Petroleum was buoyed by bid talk. Investors filed into the stock after news that the company had received early-stage approaches from more than one party. The suitors are believed to be interested in more than one strategic option, and the talks may well lead to a bid for the entire company. The activity took Meridian's shares to the top of the AIM All-Share index as they gained a spectacular 31.34 per cent or 2.625p to 11p."
