"Lonmin put on 85p to £34.37 amid rumours that rival Xstrata was mulling a bid. Speculation that Xstrata was eyeing Anglo American, up 79p to £33.54, also did the rounds again. Xstrata, which eased 38p to £39.62, is currently in bid talks with Vale, the Brazilian mining giant."
